Santiago is located in the central west part of the state, the coordinates are 100° 8' latitude west y 25° 26' longitude north. It is set in the Sierra Madre Oriental, in the valley that is formed between the Sierra Madre Oriental and the Sierra de la Silla.
The altitude is variable and goes from 1500 feet above sea level in the lowest part of the valley, to 7,550 feet above sea level in the highest parts of the mountains.

LOCALIZACIÓN
This county has an irregular shape, it collides with eight other counties. At north with Monterrey, at northeast with Villa Juarez, at east with Cadereyta, at south with Allende, and at southwest with Montemorelos, los Rayones and Arteaga, Coahuila, at west with Arteaga and at northeast with Santa Catarina. The distance from Monterrey, capital of the state, is 20 miles.
LOCAL FESTIVITIES
There are 2 main local festivities. The first one with a religious character to Patron Apostol Santiago and is celebrated on July 25th. The second one is a religious traditional and is on August with a duration of 2 weeks.
